I blame my late blog entry on my new Macbook Pro.
Although I have enjoyed it so far and is 100x better than my previous laptop
It frustrates me because I'm so used to my PC.
Now that hunting season is over Frank has started on his
house project list in full force!
He started with a few things that were top on my
priority list including making a chalkboard frame.
and finishing the window frames with family pictures (below)
I have seen similar things on Pinterest but nothing had good
instructions. Thankfully, Frank thought of a much better way!
I hope to post a step-by-step blog on how he did this soon.
My dad always said:
"A man can never have too many clamps"
We needed a headboard for our guest bedroom but
the ones in the store were expensive.
So, Frank decided to build one out of three doors.
He glued them together and put a molded piece on top
to finish it off. He just finished painting/staining it last night!
I'm so thankful for my creative and hard-working hubby.
Frank gets the most enjoyment from doing work outside
where he can see all the progress he has made.
We had 2 huge trees cut down a few months ago and since
then we have had them in our back yard.
After a month of chopping wood after work till dark...
Frank is almost finished!
We will have fire wood for a looong time!
He also rebuilt the back door step that was crumbling.
While most people would knock down the back house,
Frank is looking forward to restoring it as a guest house/garage.
There is living space upstairs (bedroom/kitchen/bathroom)
with two car garage below. The first part of restoration included
rebuilding the brick chimney (below). Frank is now working on selective demolition so he
can straighten the house up. (above)
We just got the final plans for our landscaping in the
front and backyard from Harriet McGeorge! It looks amazing!
It includes a brick retaining wall, fountain, vegetable garden,
large patio, lots of yard for kids to run around, beautiful
trees and plants that will bloom to give color year-round!
It will be many years before our landscaping is complete
but we are excited to start this spring.
Benjamin has been working hard too : )
I have to watch out for the tools Frank leaves around
or he will pick them up and leave a trail of more things for Frank to fix.
15 month check up:
Almost 25lbs (50% wt)
75% for head and height
Benjamin has gone from walking like in the video above
at the beginning of the month to throwing a ball around in the video below!
Now that he is on two feet we can explore the outdoors...
Take walks after dinner...
and walk his pet crocodile!
Most people say once they start walking everything gets harder...
I think it has been more fun!
First time coloring (I made the heart - lol)
Making music on this great consignment sale find
Learning how to self-feed with a spoon
and drink from a cup (below).
It's less messy in the bathtub : )
Sensory play time in the kitchen
Play date with his friend William
Don't they look like big boys, sitting at the table?
Date night babysitting swap - love these kids!
We love to Face Time with family!
This is my Nanny (above)
All bundled up for a walk
Benjamin is always exploring and I find him in
the funniest places (above/below)
Benjamin LOVES Valkyrie! Every time we walk by the
window he wants to stop and wave.
Benjamin plays in his pack-n-play for about 45 min every morning.
Last week this is how I found him : )
This is the first year since we have been married that we
celebrated Valentines day. Not because Frank didn't want to do
anything, but because it's just not a holiday we get into.
This year we were invited to a V-day dinner with some friends.
The guys went on a V-day mission while the ladies cooked dinner.
The food and fellowship were wonderful!
At 8:32am on Feb 13th I went down into our basement to pull
out meat from our deep freezer for dinner. My heart sank when
I realized that the switch that powers our freezer had been turned
off by the pest control lady a few days before. ALL the meat from
hunting season had thawed and I had to break the bad news to Frank.
After making a call to the local meat market we found out that we
could save any meat that was below 40 deg, otherwise it was gone.
We used our digital meat thermometer and found out all the
meat (with a few exceptions) had made the cut.
After a sigh of relief I then realized what this meant...
I had to cook EVERYTHING in one day!
I took a deep breath then made my grocery list and
went to the store. I had always been inspired by those
pinterest posts about "Make 40 meals in 6 hrs" but I
assure you it was not fun and I don't ever want to do it again.
Frank stayed home from work, heated up the grill and cooked
all the venison tenderloins, back straps, and the hamburgers.
We also grilled six bacon-wrapped duck breasts.
We borrowed a few crock pots from a friend and had one
going in every room downstairs so we didn't blow a fuse.
I made roasts with gravy, roasts with BBQ, roasts for stew,
and roasts with just salt.
I also cooked 4 meat loafs, lots of hamburgers, and cooked all the
ground venison on the stove top.
Oh yeah...a few fish filets too.
Summer Sausage
Did I mention that I was watching this little guy at the same time too?
I'm so thankful he does well for pack-n-play time and 2 naps!
My kitchen was a disaster after cooking all day!
I used every bowl I own!
When it was all said and done we had a freezer full
of cooked meals and a clean kitchen. We were both exhausted!
Needless to say our February has been quite eventful.
March will include:
More projects, more fun, and lots of love.
